What to wear as a guest to a summer wedding in 2026

Summer wedding season is upon us.

With the RSVPs flying and dates filling our calendars, it’s not long until you’ll be toasting happy couples and celebrating in the sunshine but, before the cake and the canapés, it’s time to find some summer wedding outfit ideas and decide what you want to wear.

There are a few things to consider when planning a summer wedding guest outfit. Is there a dress code? What time of day is the wedding? Bonus points if you can find an outfit you can style different ways to cover different events.

For us, the most important thing is that you wear something you feel your best in. That’s why we’ve put together this guide for styling a wedding guest outfit you’ll love this summer.

What Is the Dress Code for Summer Weddings?

What you wear will depend on the dress code.

Formal summer weddings call for classic cuts and elevated touches. Think maxi dresses and suits in premium fabrics, outfitted with statement jewellery and leather bags. More casual summer weddings might not specify a dress code but still warrant styles that fit the occasion – midi dresses, jumpsuits and waistcoats offer a relaxed alternative that strikes just the right balance between comfort and formality.

Summer Wedding Guest Dresses

A light dress with a simple silhouette is a sure favourite when it comes to summer weddings. We love the timeless appeal of a fit-and-flare shape, but the drape of empire line and wrap-effect styles always adds effortless movement and a touch of interest. Whatever the cut, floral prints, mellow pastels and vibrant colours are all perfect options for a summer wedding.

From hemline to sleeve length, the type of dress you choose will be unique to what you feel confident in. If you’re not sure where to start, we recommend heading to one of our shops to try on a few different pieces and find a style that works for you.

When it comes to fabric choice, natural blends are cool and breathable – organic cotton and linen are comfortable to wear even on the hottest summer days. Depending on the composition, cotton dresses tend to have a more structured silhouette whereas viscose offers a more fluid drape for that floaty, carefree summer look. Viscose-blend satin dresses are amongst our personal favourites: the fabric catches the sunshine with a beautiful sheen.

Summer Wedding Guest Jumpsuits and Trouser Suits

Embrace tailoring with a twist. Jumpsuits, separates and trouser suits are becoming a popular choice for summer wedding guests. We can see why; they’re elevated, comfortable and easy to re-outfit for different events post-wedding.

Linen is our go-to for versatile jumpsuits, and is the perfect choice for a loose but sophisticated cut. It’s also naturally light, cool and breathable which is ideal during the summer months. Whether you opt for a pretty print or garment-dyed plain, linen is known for taking colour particularly well and gives each piece a uniquely textured finish.

If you’re planning on wearing a jumpsuit, finding the right fit is really important to feel confident throughout the day. All of our clothes are carefully proportioned and wearer tested to make sure everything fits just as it should.

Summer Wedding Guest Jackets and Blazers

We love how a structured linen jacket or blazer can easily add depth, colour and texture to your outfit in an instant. Layer a suit jacket over a quality white T-shirt or a satin vest for a more relaxed take on tailoring, or style with a dress by hanging the blazer over your shoulders.

Linen is a great choice here as it’s light enough to wear during the day, but still substantial enough to keep you warm in the evening.

Men’s Casual Summer Wedding Shirts and Suits

Men's shirts and suits range from casual to classic, in fits and shapes that work perfectly for beachside ceremonies and destination weddings.

Plain shirts are timeless, printed styles add pops of colour and pattern, and jackets and blazers effortlessly style up trousers and shorts. Warmer days call for breathable fabrics – so we recommend pieces made with lightweight linen and soft organic cotton.

Summer Wedding Guest Accessories

Add a touch of texture or bold colour to your outfit with the perfect accessories.

A pair of elegant but comfortable shoes are essential, as is a small, stylish bag for storing confetti and sunglasses. Light neutrals and easy-to-pair colours with plenty of texture are the most versatile choice for shoes and bags. They’re easy to style with a variety of outfits through the summer, and beyond. We also love how a bold colour or big piece of jewellery can accent a look.

Finally, add the finishing touch to your wedding guest outfit with some carefully chosen jewellery. Colourful charms and beaded necklaces are delicate but can tie a look together, and we love how longer earrings bring a bit of swaying movement to an outfit.

A pendant looks great with V-neck or scoop neck styles, and don’t forget to add matching earrings for effortless colour coordination.
