Welcome the Season with Femmes De La Mer

As the days lengthen, we celebrate the power of change and the choices we make with the Cornish shanty band.

A cast of modern muses walk together at golden hour. They move in harmony, steadily traversing coast and cliff. As the sun begins to set, their voices drift through the salt air, united in song that leads us through the night.

It's a celebration.

A celebration of nature's seasonal rhythms. A celebration of the craft and care that goes into our designs. For Katy Pople, Seasalt’s Creative Director, the vision for our brand campaign was clear from the start. "We wanted to re-imagine a Cornish ritual with a cinematic expression of warmth, creativity and belonging to welcome the changing season."

"We invited Femmes De La Mer to join us." Femmes De La Mer are a Falmouth-based shanty group of women that hail from several points on Cornwall's compass. Together, they form a tightknit, multigenerational community founded on a shared love of songs from the sea. The rhythms of shanty singing, the tides and the seasons are all anchored in their coastal home – making them the perfect muses.

We start the celebration at Porth Island. When we arrive, Femmes De La Mer naturally begin to move as one. Synchronised in ritual and in procession. They wear pieces from the collection: lived-in layers, relaxed shapes and natural textures. Fair Isle jumpers hug shoulders. Sailor Squares are knotted against the breeze. Easy staples embrace the weather and adapt with the changing season.

Every step across the cliffs is like a drumbeat; a steady rhythm that signals the start of the seasonal shift. Femmes De La Mer carry with them sculptural forms that help guide autumn's return. It creates a pathway of seedheads and papier-mâché nasturtium flowers – symbols of hope and renewal that take shape in our hand-drawn prints and laundered colour palettes.

That means hand-selected natural fabrics that are sourced responsibly, like traceable organic cotton and Responsible Wool Standard certified yarns. Silhouettes that are meticulously tested to fit just right. And pieces designed with 45 years of Cornish inspiration, crafted for quality you can feel.

At Lusty Glaze beach, a bonfire awaits. It burns bright at the water's edge, a source of warmth and light as the sun slowly falls behind the cliffs. For a moment, it truly feels like it's taking the last whispers of summer with it.

The flames feel alive as our camera crew and Femmes De La Mer begin to celebrate. Together, we embrace the change and welcome the new season. The air is filled with song. The night is filled with dance.

"Through collective creativity, we capture humanity, belonging and living culture."
