We’re Now A Certified B Corporation™

Joining a global community of businesses that are dedicated to building a better world.

We’re excited to share that we’re a certified B Corp, joining a global community of like-minded organisations that are using business as a force for good.

As a B Corp, we meet high standards of social and environmental impact. We’ve been independently assessed and scored on a rigorous set of questions that champion transparency, accountability and continuous improvement across all areas of our business.

From source to shop floor, every design and business decision we make is led by a responsibility to look after people and planet. Our score is 100.2, and we’re incredibly proud. It’s a reflection of a long journey, with a lot of care, consideration and craft along the way. B Corp certification is a celebration of this hard work and, although we have our sights set firmly on the future, we're taking this moment to reflect on the milestones that led us here.

Our Journey to B Corp

In 2005, we became the first fashion company to be certified by the Soil Association for using organic cotton

Since the very beginning, we have been committed to using organic cotton for our garments wherever possible. After Seasalt founders Neil and Sophie visited small scale cotton farmers around the world, they worked alongside the Soil Association to develop the standards for Soil Association organic cotton, which is now recognised as the gold standard of organic cotton.

In 2005, Seasalt became the first fashion company to have garments certified by the Soil Association and it’s been an important part of our collection ever since.

In 2019, we reduced plastic in our packaging and mapped our carbon footprint

We know fashion is a carbon-intense industry and have always worked hard to reduce our impact on the environment. By setting near-term Science Based Targets (SBTs), we developed a credible plan for reducing our carbon footprint, aiming to become a Carbon Net Zero business by 2040.

Our first Seasalt Lite shop in Norwich used UK-sourced materials to create versatile furniture and fittings that can be easily moved, reused and repurposed – all designed to reduce our environmental impact.

In 2021, we also became an accredited Living Wage Employer

On becoming an accredited Living Wage Employer, we increased salaries to ensure that all employees earn at least the Real Living Wage. Unlike the minimum wage or national living wage, the Real Living Wage is the only rate based on what people need to live comfortably in today’s economy. We also introduced enhancements to our pension contributions, benefits package, wellbeing offering and paid leave provision for all employees.

In 2023, we partnered with Reskinned, the clothing repair, resale and recycling specialists

We believe that clothing has so much more to give after you’ve finished wearing it. It’s why we partnered with Reskinned in 2023, to prevent clothing waste and give pre-loved Seasalt a second story.

The scheme allows you to trade-in pre-loved Seasalt in return for a £25 voucher. The pre-loved items are available to shop on the Reskinned website for a discounted rate, helping to save clothes from landfill and give these garments a new chapter.
