Reporting to the Director of HR Business Partnering and Programmes you will be responsible for the HR service for your designated business areas. You’ll be responsible for translating business strategy into people plans in partnership with other HR teams to create a culture where talent thrives. You’ll be curious, credible, good at building trust and brave to challenge the norm.

With a strong commercial and people focus, including a broad understanding of key business levers. Working in partnership your fellow business partners, and the wider HR team you will focus on supporting and guiding your stakeholders to create and manage high performing and engaged teams that are focused on delivering the business goals efficiently and driving business profitability.

This role is offered as a full time, fixed term contract of up to 12 months to cover a period of family leave. Based remotely, ideally within the Midlands area, you will be covering stores in South East, Midlands and the North. You’ll need to live within regular commutable distance to stores within your patch and there will also be quarterly travel to Cornwall or other areas to attend meetings.

You'll help us by:

Driving a proactive approach to the people agenda, questioning and challenging others to get to the root cause of people and business issues and identify solutions. Developing and maintaining high functioning relationships with those you support, providing high support and high challenge. Facilitating regular listening sessions following engagement surveys to review results, create action plans to support initiatives to drive engagement.

 

Acting as the main point of contact between your stakeholders and the resourcing team, ensuring a timely and high level of service. Support departments to develop and maintain succession plans. Working with stakeholders to develop goal orientated and people centric development plans.

 

Delivering people management short courses to our leaders throughout the business. Partnering the Learning & Development team to contribute to the design of formal development programs.

 

Supporting project, change & consultation plans to secure critical business changes are implemented in a way that aligns with our values and being a strong and visible advocate for change, leading and supporting the business

Pro-actively supporting our culture and values and work with those you support to improve employee engagement levels within their teams.  Ensuring an inclusive culture enabling everyone to be the best that they can be.

 

 

The skills you'll be sharing with the team:

  • CIPD qualification level 5 or above, or equivalent

Garment Technology Apprentice - 2 Year Fixed Term Contract

The Technical/Product, Compliance & Ethics department are made up of three teams, including Product and Garment Technologists, International Product Compliance, and Supply Chain Compliance and Ethics.

As a Garment Technology apprentice, you’ll be a key member of the fast-paced Garment Technologist team, reporting to the Senior Technologist and collaborating with our teams within Design, Merchandising, Sourcing and Customer Experience, to ensure we deliver successful high quality product ranges within agreed timelines.

This apprenticeship will allow insight towards our product lifecycle and the wider Technical/Product, Compliance & Ethics team, offering the opportunity to broaden your skills throughout the apprenticeship and beyond.

Please note, as part of our Seasalt Connected approach to ways of working, this role will be based flexibly across our Cornwall head office locations - Falmouth (primarily) and Redruth for a minimum of two days per week – and working remotely from home.

You’ll help us by:

You’ll manage all arriving samples, updating our product lifecycle management (PLM) system and reports where required. You’ll also manage the rotation, tagging and archiving of samples, ensuring all samples are prepared for the technical team in line with key dates.

Day to day, you’ll manage diaries, key dates and meetings, involving: organising/booking fit sessions and fit models, organising meetings and workshops in line with the Product Calendar and Critical Path dates. In addition, you’ll support with general administrative duties, including managing department data on our centralised team files, raising Purchase Orders, booking training sessions, travel, accommodation, and transport where required.

You’ll attend fitting sessions and other meetings, taking detailed notes and outlining actions to be cascaded to wider teams where required. Assisting the Technical team, you’ll support on our external test report and care label management systems and service providers, as well as supporting reviews of product returns and sharing findings with relevant team members to resolve any quality or fit issues.

As a Junior Support Technician Apprentice, you’ll work with the Technology Operations & Offline team and the wider business to achieve department and company objectives in line with the business vision. This involves supporting our employees with IT issues, including creation of support tickets, assigning tickets, following up on queries, responding to contact from end users, and updating and maintaining documentation within specified service level agreements (SLA’s).

You’ll help us by:

One of your main responsibilities will be to act a point of contact for the Technology Operations & Offline team, responding to calls, emails and assisting with 1st line tickets from Seasalt colleagues regarding technical issues and logging them into our IT Service Management tool. These may include: password resets/locked accounts, account creation, basic office troubleshooting, stuck transactions, and any other well-documented fixes.

You’ll monitor the team mailbox, ensuring it is well maintained, organised, and that queries are responded to in a timely fashion.

Additionally, you’ll support with 3rd party requests, communicating with them to log issues, or working to ensure tickets are followed up and responded to within an appropriate timeframe.

As well as the above, you’ll assist with any routine checks on interfaces, backups and systems, and updating relevant documentation when requested.

Our Buying team shape and plan ranges that excite and delight our customers while maximising the commercial potential. This apprenticeship is a fantastic way to learn the ins-and-outs of the product lifecycle, working within a growing, creative Cornish business.

As a Buying Apprentice, you’ll provide administrative support throughout the buying cycle, exposing you to all end-to-end processes and contributing to Seasalt achieving our sales and profit targets. Day to day, you’ll work through a range of tasks across sample management, data input into our Product Lifecycle Management System, critical path maintenance, trade reporting and meeting support.

You’ll help us by:

Critical path’s enable us to create an efficient and effective timeline throughout product production, ensuring each stage is completed on time. You’ll monitor products production progress from purchase orders being sent through to critical path emails from our suppliers, ensuring data is uploaded into the system, samples are received on time and logged on our systems at each stage of the product lifecycle. With support from the Assistant Buyer, you’ll ensure all approvals are sent within set timelines and update the wider team on progress.

On a weekly basis you’ll complete a top 10 bestseller report and support in sample management for weekly trade meetings. Throughout the apprenticeship you’ll enhance your understanding of the weekly trade cycle, priorities, and provide support in meetings where appropriate. You’ll also work on lessons learnt and regularly review competition, highlighting anything significant back to the team.

You’ll look after the full set of buying samples, including receipting, posting, storing and sharing with other departments where necessary, such as Photography, Technical and Design teams. Within sample management you’ll be responsible for samples at all stages of the product lifecycle; ensuring they are presented well for sign off, stored effectively in the cupboards and sent to the Distribution Centre in line with priorities.

You’ll help us by:

Day to day, you’ll learn and utilise a range of systems to enhance your technical skills and contribute to the enhancement of system security and reliability.  You’ll manage and keep track of tasks using Microsoft Azure Devops, assist in the development and maintenance of our continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) pipelines, and maintain existing infrastructure using the Azure portal and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform). Additionally, you’ll contribute to our code repository by utilising Git for version control.

Collaborating with the Development, Testing and Technical Services teams, you’ll develop an overarching understanding of the team, gaining new skills and working to automate processes and implement cloud solutions, using Azure Integration Services.

You’ll engage in problem-solving activities, providing effective solutions to technical challenges and writing and maintaining the relevant technical documentation.

The Merchandising department is made up of three teams… Product Merchandising, Merchandise Planning and Channel Merchandising who manage the buy and stock to drive sales and maximise profit. We are recruiting 2 apprentices for this role, who will cover Product Merchandising and Allocation, allowing insight towards the wider Merchandising team and an opportunity to broaden your skills throughout the apprenticeship and beyond.

As a Merchandising apprentice, you’ll support our Merchandising teams with analysis to make key buying and trading decisions, as well as optimising stock levels across our retail channels (stores, online, partners), ensuring our sales and profit targets can be met.

Please note, as part of our Seasalt Connected approach to ways of working, this role will be based flexibly across our Cornwall head office locations - Falmouth (primarily) and Redruth for a minimum of three days per week – and working remotely from home.

You’ll help us by:

Day to day, you’ll assist in analysis such as line level forecasting based on historical sales, reviewing best seller reports, monitoring launch availability. Additionally, you’ll assist with the preparation of purchase order requirements ahead of raising Purchase Order’s.

Working with our Allocators, you’ll ensure smooth and efficient flow of stock into the warehouse and out to our stores and partners in line with required launch dates through effective replenishment, reacting to sales performance (trade), as well as preparing analysis to support decision making with regards to allocations.

Supporting our Merchandisers, you’ll work collaboratively on category and line forecasting using our line monitors, as well as preparing and analysing weekly trade figures using our Trade reports. You’ll research and prepare information as requested by the Merchandiser, using appropriate resources and providing feedback on your findings.

Collaborating with the Sustainability Manager, you’ll analyse data and prepare non-disclosure reports and regulatory reports. Additionally, you’ll work across the business to capture and understand ESG stories that can be used as part of internal communications and external marketing assets.

With previous experience in a Merchandising function as an Allocator or above, you will have knowledge of working to a Critical Path. Retail experience would also be advantageous.

Working within the Menswear Garment Technology team you’ll be delivering a range of Seasalt products ensuring design integrity, quality, fit, performance, safety and consistency in line with departmental strategy to achieve agreed sales and profit target.

As a key member of the Technical team, you’ll work with Buying, Design, Marketing, Retail, Wholesale and QC to ensure successful product, adhering strictly to the Buying Calendar and Critical Path. Ensuring company business systems are understood and utilised to their maximum; specifically, PLM for tech packs, Fabric and Garment Testing using Interlink, Pyramid and Power BI for returns data.

The role is a full-time, permanent position based at our Head Office in Falmouth. In our blended approach to hybrid working, we expect our people to work a minimum of 40% of their week from a Seasalt Office in Cornwall, the remaining 60% of the time will be from home (or your chosen location – however, you must be based in the UK).

 

 

You'll help us by:

Being responsible for your own product group(s) following garments from design hand over, through sample development, to production ex-factory, and delivery into our DC in line with agreed range plan, target price and Critical Path. This includes:

  • Creating product specs for each product and grading product specs using established grade rules.
  • Leading fit sessions with designer and buyer (with training) to perfect fit on own categories with support when required.
  • Working with buying and design to allocate correct sustainability credentials for each style each season. Select and add care label information, symbols and wording for each product
  • Maintaining ongoing risk assessment of products through development phase to maintain quality, function and performance. Updating product specs from concept to production stage as required.
  • Collating and assessing product and fabric test reports from suppliers with support when required. Support suppliers to achieve best production practice and product quality with support when required. Communicating all product requirements to suppliers in a clear and consistent manner becoming a key supplier liaison in partnership with buying and design.
  • Approval of development and pre-production samples and approval to ship.
  • Advise approval/ comments on final in-house quality control checks where necessary.
  • Update PLM system for all stages of development.
  • Work with QC/QA and wider team to ensure Seasalt standards are met in the case of QC failure.
  • Attend supplier/factory visits as required, complete quality and production audits, where necessary. Encourage supplier’s ownership of quality through participating in supplier meetings.
  • Work in partnership with suppliers to ensure best quality and ease of production, risk assessing product to eliminate any issues that could cause quality or performance issues.
  • Using relevant business systems/ data to inform product changes and updates, receiving and reacting to leadership product updates as necessary.
  • Keep abreast of customer reviews and returns and proposing improvements/ changes where necessary to improve customer satisfaction and reduce returns rates.
  • Attend and or receive feedback from product review meetings (e.g. lessons learnt/ sketch and swatch/ seasonal brief/range response/ sign off/ Trade) and react accordingly with support when required.
  • Support and share information with wider team in cases where others can benefit to improve their own knowledge or product areas.

 

The skills you'll be sharing with the team:

  • Knowledge in garment construction and pattern cutting.
  • Industry based experience or an equivalent level.
  • Experience in product fitting and grading and product spec updates.
  • Knowledge of test report approvals.
  • Basic knowledge of relevant production process and practices.
  • Experience in communication with overseas suppliers.
  • Good Microsoft Office skills.
  • Some experience of product development tools/ PLM.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Good organisation and time management skills.
  • Attention to detail.

As our Area Manager – Midlands, you will be responsible for the commercial and financial performance of all the stores within your specific area.  You will lead your Store Manager team to drive sales, maximise profitability and achieve KPI targets. Acting as a brand ambassador and role model, you will promote the Seasalt key values and behaviours to enable your team to embody these for the benefit of our customers. You’ll inspire and lead a team that is commercially focused and create a culture where stores put the customer at the heart of everything they do. 

Your role will provide a key link from our head office teams to the store population to ensure the retail and brand vision are consistently met across your area.

This role is offered as fixed term contract of up to 12 months to cover a period of family leave, based remotely within the Midlands area. You’ll need live within regular commutable distance to stores within your patch and there will also be occasional travel to Cornwall or other areas to attend meetings.

You'll help us by:

Store Performance and Business Planning:

Effectively communicate the retail strategy to drive sales growth, profitability and KPI delivery. Aligning to the business financial goals with the development and delivery of sales and payroll budgets within the area which are managed, monitored and reviewed to consistently achieve contribution and profit. Reviewing the area performance to recognise growth opportunities and/or risks that may impact required performance, alongside individual store results and trends, taking timely and/or necessary action to improve performance. Be the link between stores and the brand to ensure all trading opportunities are realised. Communicating concise and future focussed trade information to the Director of Retail.

Customer Experience:

Driving a culture of service excellence across the area by monitoring and managing service results and all recorded feedback. Manage any complaints and/or issues efficiently and effectively in line with Seasalt policies and expectations. Ensure great and consistent customer service throughout the area. The best customer experience is at the heart of everything we do. Maintain a consistent view of competitor and future retail trends that could strengthen the service we offer to actively drive customer engagement and partnerships.

Retail Operations:

Undertaking regular store visits to all stores within the area, in line with business and area objectives and priorities. Completing store operation and financial audits as required to drive consistency and compliance with Seasalt policies and procedures. Working with the Retail Support team to develop, implement and review operational efficiencies to ensure high levels of compliance in all stores. Holding regular area team meetings with challenging and engaging agendas that drive achievement of business goals. Regularly reviewing and encouraging Store Managers to have awareness of any risks and opportunities within the area.

Ensure store stocktake procedures are delivered to high standards, offering support and guidance to reduce shrinkage. Additionally take responsibility for stock loss within the area, escalating and taking appropriate action as necessary. Aligning with Visual Merchandising to ensure the implementation of commercially driven windows and in store layouts, promotions and POS are consistent and maintained. Adhering to Company financial, security and Health and Safety procedures and legislations.

Taking ownership for the opening of any new stores within the area, working effectively and collaboratively with the Retail Support team and Head Office functions to ensure a successful store opening.

People and Team Development:

Attract, retain and develop the best talent within Seasalt creating a consistent team culture that delivers excellence, through employees’ own ownership and pride. Focussing on succession planning to meet longer term area and business growth. Identify and support with the delivery of required training for stores. Ensure all of the area team are using and optimising all available L&D tools, prioritising their personal development.

Recognising and managing any performance or conduct issues in a timely manner, utilising HR support to act in accordance with Seasalt policies, processes. Driving yearly engagement survey responses and be accountable for results and actions generated.

Playing an integral part of the wider Retail team, offering support and guidance where appropriate.

The skills you'll be sharing with the team:

  • Proven Retail Management experience to Area Manager level or equivalent, preferably within a lifestyle brand.
  • Advanced knowledge of Store Operations and delivery of initiatives in stores.
  • High commercial awareness, with a focus on excellent customer service.
  • A clear leader able to demonstrate strong management skills, including coaching and team development.
  • Passionate about identifying opportunities to improve and responding accordingly.
  • Ability to work autonomously to achieve business goals within timeframes.
  • Experience of analysing financial and commercial reports with a view to managing risk and opportunities these present.
