Seasalt is a modern Cornish company with an ambitious vision. We are already established as a successful multi-channel UK retailer, with an international online presence, over 80 shops, and various partnerships and wholesale stockists. We're always challenging ourselves to think creatively and innovate.

At Seasalt we are undergoing some exciting expansion, and our Director of Property plays an invaluable role in meeting our business needs through leading and managing the property and estate strategy for both the UK and Internationally.

A key focus of the role will be ensuring the current business programme of store roll outs is delivered together with the management and development of the entire current and future Seasalt estate incorporating office, warehouse and retail store assets.

Please note that while the preference for this role is to be based in the South West of the UK with a hybrid working approach, we would also accept applications from remote candidates across England.

 You’ll help us by:

Developing and implementing a property strategy that optimises our store portfolio in the UK and internationally will be pivotal, while responding to changing market conditions.

Overseeing the property budget, you’ll ensure the estate portfolio is cost-effective and aligns with the business, monitoring financial performance and identifying opportunities to optimise operating costs and maximise profitability.

In collaboration with your team, you’ll ensure store roll outs are delivered on time, cost-effectively, and in line with our brand vision and operational requirements. Identifying target locations for new stores, you’ll create a pipeline of properties to meet the growth aspirations of the business.

You’ll work with external consultants on property acquisition for approved sites, negotiate with landlords, propose Heads of Terms, and coordinate legal processes to completion. Additionally, you’ll ensure compliance with lease agreements and secure commercially advantageous terms.

You’ll be accountable for the procurement, management, and delivery of all property and facilities projects, covering the office and warehouse estate, store design and fit-outs in the UK and internationally. You’ll ensure the estate is well-maintained through proactive and reactive maintenance while providing a safe, clean, and inspiring environment for our people and customers, that meets our sustainability commitments, health and safety, and building regulations.

A member of our senior leadership team, you’ll lead direct reports and drive clear accountabilities, maximising performance in a way that is consistent with our culture and values. Communicating effectively, you’ll ensure information cascades quickly and accurately, while building and maintaining strong collaborative working relationships with external and internal stakeholders at all levels.

The skills you’ll be sharing with the team:

  • A background in Retail or Hospitality
  • Substantiative property and facility management experience, both in the UK and ideally internationally
  • Experience in an in-house role of a similar size business, managing the whole end-to-end process of new store openings
  • People-focused senior leader with strong leadership skills and proven success in leading, coaching and developing a motivated team
  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to manage cross functional relationships and influence at all levels
  • Experience of creating and executing to a high standard a commercial properties strategy
  • Detailed knowledge of the management of property and facilities, including the current legislative and regulatory framework
  • Knowledge of current health and safety legislation and its application to building and property management, including CDM, fire and asbestos regulations
  • Knowledge of the legislative framework of building management, including planning and building regulations
  • Experience of lease acquisitions and property management; renewals, breaks, rent reviews and disposals
  • A relevant degree or equivalent, and RICS membership would be desirable
  • Experience of managing budgets efficiently and deliver cost savings while maintaining quality outcomes
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Good commercial understanding with ability to consider wider impacts to the business
