Retail Construction Manager - 12 Month Fixed Term Contract

Here at Seasalt we have ambitious growth plans, so our Retail Construction Manager will be instrumental in bringing these plans to life through new store openings, managing the full lifecycle from pre-design to project completion. This is an exciting opportunity to play a part in driving our expansion both across the UK and internationally.
Please note this role is a 12 month temporary contract, and can be based remotely within the UK with occasional travel to our Cornwall head offices.

You’ll help us by:
As the Retail Construction Manager, you will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality retail store fitout projects by; tendering contracts, managing contractors, and maintaining strict cost control. This role is responsible for overseeing the tendering process, evaluating bids, and negotiating contracts to secure the best value while ensuring quality and adherence to project timelines.
This role requires close collaboration with internal teams, including design, operations, finance, and procurement, to gather essential pre-design and construction information into actionable project plans.
By applying value engineering techniques, you’ll optimise costs and efficiency without compromising on design or quality. Through regular site visits, you’ll ensure construction progress aligns with design specifications, quality standards, health and safety, company branding, and operational needs, while keeping projects on schedule. Additionally, you'll secure necessary building control approvals, permits, and planning consents, ensuring full compliance with local regulations and legal requirements.
You will act as the primary point of contact for external contractors, suppliers, architects, and landlords, ensuring clear communication and driving efficient project progress. You’ll manage and monitor project budgets, tracking expenditures, ensuring cost control while maintaining transparency with financial stakeholders.
The skills you’ll be sharing with the team:
- You’ll either have a degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, (or a related field) or a Chartered Status or Membership with Relevant Professional Bodies such as:
- CIOB (Chartered Institute of Building) – Member or Chartered Construction Manager status
- RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) – Membership or Chartered Surveyor status, ideally in the Building Surveying or Project Management Pathway
- Construction Site Safety Certifications
- A recognised project management certification would be useful, but is not essential
- Proven track record of managing construction and fitout projects, preferably with multiple store rollouts
- Retail experience would be desirable
- Experience preparing and managing the tendering process, evaluating bids, and selecting contractors, with an understanding of balancing quality and cost
- Experience in budget creation, cost estimation, financial tracking, and cost control to ensure projects stay within budget
- Background in applying value engineering to optimise project costs while maintaining quality and design integrity
- Experience working with internal stakeholders (e.g., design, finance, procurement, operations) to gather pre-construction information and align on project goals
- Familiarity with securing building control approvals, planning permissions, and other regulatory consents required for construction projects
- Hands-on experience managing contractors, suppliers, architects, and consultants to ensure alignment with project requirements and timelines
- Experience conducting site visits and quality inspections to ensure construction work meets design specifications and quality standards
- Knowledge and understanding of CDM2015
- Experience in preparing detailed project reports for senior management, highlighting project progress, budget performance, and potential risks
- Ability to lead and motivate diverse teams, including contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders, to meet project goals
- Meticulous approach to ensure that every aspect of the fitout meets quality, safety, and design standards
- Flexible and able to respond quickly to changing project needs, timelines, or unexpected challenges
- Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and timelines efficiently

As a Senior Systems Engineer within the Infrastructure and Security team, you’ll architect and implement technical solutions to support business growth. Supporting the problem management function through root cause analysis, investigation and resolution of complex systems issues. You’ll implement and maintain pertinent technologies to support disaster recovery planning.
This is a full time, permanent position based remotely within the UK (you must be resident in the UK) with occasional travel to Cornwall as needed. Please note, we are not able to provide visa sponsorship.
You'll help us by:
Developing and implementing our business-critical IT infrastructure. Maintaining Architecture diagrams and documentation for Hardware, Applications, On premise and Cloud Infrastructure
Deploying and testing new appropriate technologies, business applications and systems integrations
Implement and configure technologies to support capacity and availability management. Ensuring that appropriate measures are taken to secure and backup all systems and data
Assisting with operational services and our 3rd party providers in resolving major incidents, with the development and implementation of our IT disaster recovery plan and associated processes.
Maintaining information security and data protection standards in line with all relevant legislation, regulation and company policies.
Participating in CAB meetings
The skills you'll be sharing with the team:
- In-depth hands-on experience of managing and supporting complex cloud and on-premises virtualised server environments
- Operating to service levels; experience of working to ITIL standards
- Significant technical knowledge and demonstrable experience of 5 or more of the following technologies:
- Active Directory / Entra ID Administration
- VMware/Hyper-V virtualisation experience
- SAN Storage Technologies
- Azure Compute, Storage, Networking stack
- Azure Power Platform
- Citrix DaaS
- Microsoft 365 Services including Intune / Autopilot
- Demonstrable experience in server system troubleshooting techniques using highly specialised tools
- Proven experience of working within an IT Technical Services support function.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent analytical skills and problem-solving skills.
