Our Forever Favourites

Six of our stylish staff share the pieces they'll be investing in this season.

Everyone has their wardrobe heroes: the pieces they’ll reach for again and again, through sun and rain, that act as the foundation of so many favourite outfits. It could be a trusty shirt or the perfect jeans, or it could be something vibrant and patterned that speaks to your personality.

At Seasalt, it’s our aim for our clothes to achieve this status: style lynchpins, lived in, loved, and layered through the seasons. So, it’s no surprise when our team find forever favourites in our collections, too.

We asked six of our Cornish staff to share the pieces from our current range that they’re wearing on repeat. Some, like the Sailor Top, are ones we’ve had since the very beginning; some, like our Penweathers Trench Coat, are a brand new twist on a timeless classic…

1. Penweathers Trench Coat

“This coat has become a staple in my coat arsenal. I absolutely love all the traditional trench coat styling details,” says Laura Watson, our Chief Creative Officer.

The Penweathers Trench looks great with jeans but also works well as a smarter city overcoat.

“The length helps it look more modern and the Nori colour works with everything as an easy neutral. The best thing is that when it comes to wet weather, you can look stylish and stay completely dry. There are some nice-looking trench coats around on the high street, but often they are in cotton twills so none of them will perform as this one does.”

2. Tideline Sweatshirt

“The length helps it look more modern and the Nori colour works with everything as an easy neutral. The best thing is that when it comes to wet weather, you can look stylish and stay completely dry. This maritime-inspired sweatshirt was chosen by Senior Designer Cathryn, who says “the Tideline is perfect to throw on when you need that extra layer of warmth.”

A classic striped sweatshirt is a great all-year-round piece.

3. Lavant Mor Shirt

Some fabric, a needle, thread and some scissors, that’s all you need. Embroidery is a folk art, and anyone can do it, which is what I love so much about it. Don’t worry about it being perfect.

It’s like learning to write. It takes time and practice to develop your style of handwriting, and it’s the same with embroidery.

My book is a celebration of a particular embroidery stitch called ‘couching’, which is extremely simple and very versatile.

Our Director of Creative Marketing, Lucie, loves how versatile a classic white shirt can be.

Pop a white shirt under a knitted vest or jumper with a popped-up collar.

“In the winter, wear it more smartly under a trench coat and pair with a relaxed jean.” says Lucie. “Or, in summer, roll up the sleeves, make a knot at the waist and open the buttons for a light cover up on the beach.”

4. Gull Rising Vest

A knitted vest is an easy way to elevate nearly any look. Laura, one of Seasalt’s assistant buyers picked out the merino-rich Gull Rising Vest.

The Gull Rising vest is a timeless, classic, traditional piece in a gorgeous rib stitch.

“It can be worn in so many ways, over dresses, shirts and even T-shirts, adding warmth while instantly changing your look,” says Laura.

5. Sailor Top

Vic Gardner from the buying team chose our signature Sailor Top as her favourite piece.

It's the hardest working top you'll own.

Vic says “channel your inner Parisienne and pair with denim and ballet pumps or layer on a statement necklace and tuck into a skirt to elevate your look.”

6. Trenow Cove Jeans

Isobel is an Assistant Buyer for outerwear and trousers, so she knows her jeans. The Trenow Coves are her pick.

The straight leg shape in these jeans is so easy to style, and I love the slight stretch - so comfy.

“The darker inkwell colour is easy to dress up and down – I’ll probably wear my pair with a T-shirt and an oversized jacket on the weekend, and then tuck a shirt in for days at work,” says Isobel.
