January | Moors and Woods

A new collection of clean silhouettes, quality fabrics and refreshing colour.

This season, we invite you to join us on a journey through Cornwall. Fresh and full of colour, our spring summer ’24 collection tells the story of different landscapes as they are touched by the changing seasons.

Moors and Woods

Our print design team were inspired by the variety of life along this narrow stretch of the shoreline. Discover sketched reeds, painted marsh flowers and hidden wetland birds, all in the pared-back palette of a Mid-century travel journal.

Our new collection is a celebration of all the beautiful natural landscapes down here in Cornwall

Laura Watson, Chief Creative Officer

Evergreen pieces that last and layer are key. Clean cuts and quality fabrics form the foundation for a wardrobe you’ll love year-round. Bright knitwear makes a soft statement, and new organic cotton denim adds texture to the story.

From the Sketchbook

This season’s prints have a feeling of wild abundance, picked from natural spaces where early spring flowers find space to grow. In the studio, the team have created a series of modern and contemporary florals, contrasted by expressive abstracts inspired by vintage journals and the landscape.

We really love The New Naturalists journals, and it's the front covers by Rosemary and Clifford Ellis that particularly inspired our print team. They have this lovely smudgy, chalky quality handwriting that the team have reflected in the collection.

Fresh prints capture carpets of blooms that will soon cover woodland floors. On Cornwall’s moors, the bright January sun illuminates the detail hidden within the big picture: unfurling wildflowers and moorland birds.

We wanted the prints to be really energetic and optimistic. So we made the colours clean, fresh and bright and used lots of handpainting, drawing and brush strokes.

The bold check of our Fleet Dress has been created with yarn-dyed organic cotton, which gives our carefully chosen colours an extra dimension. It's an instant outfit for brighter days, and the darker base tones and chalk highlights make it easy to style in the run-up to summer. Pair with a cardigan in a soft white or add a classic denim jacket for a bit of structure and a utility edge.

A statement dress is the perfect opportunity to have a bit of fun by calling out bolder colours. Laura’s styled it with our textured Tepel Vest and our fair isle Little Grebe Vest, and our Ballad Jacket in our vibrant Tomato red is the perfect complement; it gives an instant lift to this, and any, outfit.

We hope you find plenty of inspiration in our Moors & Marshes collection. We love to see how you’re #WearingSeasalt, so share your style with us on @SeasaltCornwall.

On cloudy January days, we love to go bright and bold to dress for a dose of dopamine. Seasalt’s Chief Creative Officer, Laura Watson shows us how being confident with colour can open up a new wardrobe of endless possibilities.

Laura’s Tips for Being Confident with Colour

  • "With a multi yarn dye, choose one of the colours in the check and use that to coordinate your cardigan."
  • "Be quite brave with contrasting colour. Olive green works brilliantly with bright pinks."
  • "Don't be scared of a bright trouser. Match it to the colours in your jumper and it will all tie together."
